Today’s sophisticated digital hearing aids deliver a sound quality that is closer to normal hearing than ever.
The sound quality that Widex has obtained can be compared with the fine and precise sound you get when listening to a CD. We call it ‘High definition hearing'.
One of the biggest problems for hearing aid users is the disturbing effect of background noise. Advanced digital hearing aids go a long way towards solving this problem. They are able to reduce noise and enhance speech by adjusting the sound smoothly and automatically.
Four types of hearing aid | There are four types of hearing aid: The smallest model, which is placed deeply in the ear canal and therefore barely visible, the discreet in-the-ear model the small classic behind-the-ear model and the thin tube "open fitting" behind-the-ear model which offers a discrete and uniquely comfortable fit.
The choice of hearing aid depends on the type and configuration of the specific hearing loss. Some people prefer the in-the -ear models as their size makes them more cosmetically appealing. However, as the sound outlet of the in-the-ear hearing aids is postioned within the ear canal, these models are more susceptible to damage from wax and mositure. Regular cleaning of in-the ear hearing aids and regular replacement of the wax guard system is paramount for optimal operation. Consideration of ongoing maintenence is another important factor in deciding what type of hearing aid is suitable for you.
Behind-the-ear hearing aids are less likely to be damaged by wax as the hearing aid is positioned behind the ear, away from the ear canal. The earmould or dome can be removed from the behind-the-ear hearing aid for cleaning if it is blocked with wax.
All series of Widex hearing aids are available in all four model types; Completely-in-the-Canal , In-The-Ear, Behind-The-Ear,
Receiver-in-Canal and Open Fitting Behind-The-Ear.
